HISTORY

Parents and friends of children with visual disorders (partial or total vision loss) and additional disabilities (mental retardation, autism, neurological disorders, motor and sensory problems, etc.) created the association in 2006 in order to offer our children all the conditions for a decent and quality education, development and living.
In April 2007 the first statute marked the official start of our Association with the original name “Amymoni – Association of Thessaloniki” based in Kalamaria. A decisive role in its creation was played by the “Amymoni” Association, whose people inspired, supported and guided us in our first steps, for which reason we will be forever grateful.
Since 2015, we have continued the course of the association under the name “SYZOI”, which fully expresses the opinion and the strong will of the parents and guardians, “our children to live not in parallel, but together with others”.

The purpose of the Association:
1) Education and vocational training of people with visual impairments and additional disabilities
2) Psychological and social support for these people and their families
3) The best possible coverage of their needs
4) Defending and institutionalizing their constitutional rights
5) Promote scientific research for the prevention and medical treatment of these problems
6) Awareness of the wider community about this complex disability.

“SYZOI” is a non-profit association of charitable character recognized according to the law no. 10799/2007 decision of the Single Judge of the Court of First Instance of Thessaloniki (Case No 8250).
